KHUMBU VALLEY TRAIL RUNNING – NEPAL – EVEREST REGION
Run trails and scramble peaks among the world’s highest mountains with Himalaya Alpine Guides.
Spend fourteen days in Nepal’s Khumbu Valley running singletrack, see Mt. Everest up close from the best viewpoints (Gokyo Ri, Kala Patthar) and scramble peaks to 5600 meters – all in running shoes and a lightweight vest.
Get to know the local culture and geography visiting Buddhist monasteries, mani stones, and stupas in between passing prayer flags and decorated yaks on the trails.
You’ll stay in comfortable lodges, eating momos, dal bhat, and Tibetan bread. Plus we know where to get a good cup of coffee.
Your host and guide Dan Patitucci, will pass along acclimatization practices and photo tips too. Dan is a professional mountain sport photographer, athlete, and Himalaya veteran. He’ll offer photo tips and advice on composition and concepts to help you get the best photos during your tour.
Nepal’s Khumbu Valley offers everything a mountain and trail runner seeks. Come explore this excellent trail system among iceclad 8000 meter peaks – Everest, Lhotse, and Cho Oyu; as well as a few of the world’s most beautiful and dramatic mountains – Cholatse, Pumori, and arguably the most beautiful of them all, Ama Dablam.
The Khumbu valley is popular for trekkers, but this isn’t the standard Everest Base Camp (EBC) tour. Moving at a quicker pace, we’ll have the opportunity to run some lesser traveled trails and peaks for a unique and unforgettable experience.
A well rounded “wow, I really did it” experience. Three weeks: October 5-25, 2025. Suitable for intermediate to advanced trail runners.
LEADERSHIP
Dan Patitucci is leading this session in collaboration with Nepali trail running guide.
LOGISTICS
We will trail run and hike with porter support while in the Everest region. This is a lodge-based trek, we sleep in beds each night and order from a menu for three meals a day.
TRUST
Trail running and hiking at 5000+ meters is no place to be short on resources. We make the proper advance preparations to ensure that our team will be properly cared for all along the way. We will make a conservative approach to acclimatization on this trip (Dan will explain as we go). If any participant or staff member needs more time to acclimatize on approach then we will simply spend another night at that elevation as a team.
FEATURES
- Spectacular and scenic trail running through the Himalaya
- Three 5000+m peak summits (Gokyo Ri, Kala Pathar, Chukhung Ri)
- Two 5000m pass crossings
Tashi Delek and Namaskar.
