Luke Smithwick

Luke served as the director of snow safety operations and the backcountry avalanche forecaster for the government of Kashmir in Gulmarg for four years. With intimate familiarity with the terrain and snowpack, he navigates the big alpine bowls, forested glades, and pillow lines with precision. Gulmarg offers a diverse range of options for backcountry enthusiasts of all ability levels.

For flight bookings you can use google flights and its less costly to book your round trip flights to Delhi (DEL) and then your Delhi to Srinagar (SXR) return flights.

The current Gulmarg avalanche forecast is at Gulmarg Avalanche Center. To hire ski equipment there are several hire ski shops in Gulmarg meadow, you can message us for where to do that currently. Inventory and access changes from season to season as Gulmarg grows.

In Gulmarg it’s also wise to book hotel nights during the summer, through the pandemic Gulmarg became an overnight hit for domestic tourism and hotels book out months before Winter. Plan ahead.
