༄Backcountry skiing and splitboarding India. The Ganga (Ganges). Lifeblood to millions, and holiest of rivers to those of the Hindu faith. The Ganga originates in the ice clad peaks of the Garhwal Himalayas, central India, fed by heavy winter and monsoon snows. Millions of people flock each year to have their sins washed away by its waters. We travel to the source, and explore the upper reaches for skiing and splitboarding. We will visit with holy sadhus, acclimatize on lower peaks in the Harsil valley, and seek out aesthetic lines in this extraordinary region while also learning about the winter way of life for the local Garhwali people.
The valley we will be focused on for this big mountain splitboarding expedition. Foot-powered self-supported exploration of a remote propecia online schweiz valley in the central Indian Himalayas. Our goal is not summits, yet glaciated technical descents of aesthetic lines in one of the most sacred regions of the vast Himalayas. Blue dots indicate camps and potential lines (first descent routes).
A sadhu walks the platform of the Shatabdi Express. Sadhus are holy mendicants of the Hindu faith. They have chosen a life devoted to Lord Shiva, the creator and the destroyer. They live on the edges of society to focus on their spiritual practices.
