Nun | 7135m – North Face

Climbers on the summit of Nun during our 2015 successful expedition.

We return to the Nun-Kun massif for our sixth expedition to climb Nun (7135m).  Nun is an excellent choice for a 7000 meter climb because of its short trekking approach (one day), climbing route, and relatively stable weather patterns. We approach Nun via Ladakh, spending the first week trekking and climbing in the picturesque Ladakh range as a warm-up. The climbing route on Kun is relatively free from objective hazard with the right climbing program. The weather in the region has certainly beaten the patterns of Nepal over the past three years. We are reacting to these patterns, and shifting to areas that have had better weather over the past three seasons.

Leadership. Luke Smithwick will be leading this trip, and also climbing with you on the mountain. Additionally, one Nepalese Sherpa guide will be present for every two Climberss on the peak. All camps on mountain will be stocked and pitched in advance, with the route fixed in places deemed necessary by the Sherpa climbing team and Luke.

Cost Effective. Full Service. Our base camp at Nun BC will be fully stocked with a variety of meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with snacks. We will have hot showers in camp, two pit toilets, and each member will have their own roomy 2 person Mountain Hardwear tent. The purpose of a base camp is for you to have a place to recover, and relax, and have space from the mountain to collect your thoughts, gather your energy reserves, and move to climbing on the mountain. We will make one rotation on the mountain before making our summit bid. A rotation entails climbing on the peak, spending nights in established and stocked camps, and then returning to our base camp for a hot shower, fresh meals, and relaxing. Our goal as a guide service is to provide a climb that keeps you strong, physically healthy, and mentally prepared for your summit.

Proving Ground. Kun is an excellent segue way into 8000 meter peaks or as a singular objective. Come and test yourself on a Himalayan giant surrounded by spectacular wilderness.

Trust. Climbing at 7000 meters is no place to be short on resources. We make the proper advance preparations to ensure that our team will be properly cared for, from airport to summit to airport. zanskar-village
